Strengths: Lots of features for the money, crisp lens, layout similar to previous Coolpix models.

Weakness: Vignetting!

I had the new Coolpix P60 for several days and shot about 150 pictures under all kinds of conditions. Every image showed vignetting, a shadow, on one side of the frame. I do not know if the camera was defective, or had a lens design flaw, but I found it unacceptable. It also mis-read one light reading, which caused a bizarre magenta/pink-toned image. In all the years I used my old Coolpix I never had that happen. Between the vignetting in every picture, and the one weird magenta/pink-toned image, my confidence in this camera model took a nose-dive and I returned it.

Expected more from Nikon

Strengths: small, high megapixel, packed with features, electronic view finder

Weakness: slow, features not easy to find, price, cheap plastic, LCD is not high resolution.

Let me start off by saying this is my first Nikon camera ever. All of my point and shoot cameras have been canon, with the most recent one being the Canon Powershot A570Is. And guess what I liked the Cannon camera better. The Nikon P60 is small and looks really cute and it has quite a few features. I love the fact that you can do "on camera editing" for red eye reduction and the fact that that they made it very easy to change your ISO settings right from the top of the camera. It didn't take me long to figure the camera out, but the fact that the menu button is used on conjunction with the menu dial on the top is a little confusing.

Also, don't use this camera if you want to take continuous shots, there is a 5 second delay between each photo, the little hour glass shows up.

Using the LCD to take a picture is not that great, the resolution on this LCD is not real clear, sometimes the pixels look a little distored. You are almost better off using the electronic view finder.

The construction on the camera isn't all that great, the door where the batteries and SD card are held is a very cheap plastic and you feel like it is going to break each time you try to shut it (it doesn't latch on the first try). Additional, the SD card is stored behind the batteries and it is a little difficult to remove the card when the batteries are in the camera.

I wish I could find more that's positive to say, but I really believe as time goes on that Nikon dropped the ball on this one and there are less expensive cameras you can purchase that do the same thing with more features and MUCH better price. I think I am going to go with the Canon Powershot A590IS


This is a cute little camera but I could have saved my money and purchased the Canon Powershot A590IS and got the same features with more power.

I do like the fact that it takes double AA batteries but you need to get rechargeable batteries..
