This is my very first digital camera and I am enjoying every minute. I would suggest you go online to review the full manual as the one included in the box is very basic and will only get you started. Its a great camera with many useful and fun features.
I have already printed a few photos and they look great. I have also had the opportunity to view my HD photos on my HD TV -usind the SD card, and they are beautiful! The detail is outstanding. I am impressed and can not wait for my next vacation with this great camera.
One thing I was a bit concerned about is the lens cap.The lens cap falls off easily and pops off when you turn the camera on. I decided to pick up a nice case to keep it in, and now I dont worry about my lens getting damaged.
Good luck finding the one that is right for you, I have found the one for me:-)

Great product.

Strengths: Awesome Shots.

Weakness: None.

I am an really bad photographer and this camera makes me feel as though I might actually have some talent. As unlikely as that may be, at least my photos are coming out looking fair which I could never say before.

JUNK

Strengths: Does take nice pics, if it's working

Weakness: Doesn't work anymore

I've had this camera 3 1/2 months, and it no longer works -it sporadically turns off on it's own, the zoom isn't working anymore, it only lets me take one picture at a time, and the lens cover is awful. Don't buy this hunk of junk!

Strengths: Easy to use; great shots in many lighting conditions

Weakness: Lens cap falls of with almost no "jarring" of the camera (a somewhat minor problem for me--- but annoying at times)

Very impressive camera

Strengths: Image quality, Comfortable grip, 12X ZOOM!!!, 1st picture delay, battery life, low light pictures, good placement of buttons/dials, view finder and LCD screen

I chose this camera after extensive research into which type of camera to purchase. Although this is not a camera that will fit into a pant pocket it is far more compact than the SLR cameras. The 12X optical provides amazing close up imaging. 10MP is far more than needed for recreational photos but therefore results in astonishing image quality. Everytime I show a friend the photos taken (right on the LCD screen) they are all amazed by the quality or zoom capabilities. This camera was the highest ranked in the "consumer magazine" I always use. It even outperformed $1,000 cameras. I think too many people purchase SLR cameras with the expectation of better photo quality. Unless you are taking professional photos you will be hard to find a camera on the market now to outperform the Z1012. I purchased a Kodak rechargeable battery (pay attention to the battery model # needed) and can probably take close to 500 photos before requiring recharge.
Only fault is the processing time for some single photos before being able to take another. Also in the Auto setting sometimes the flash does not take even thought it may be needed. The ISO setting (low light conditions) is impressive (highest rated in consumer mag).
Superb camera outperforming many far more expensive!
